Blu & Damu The Fudgemunk | Ground & Water
Blu & Damu The Fudgemunk have created quite a masterpiece if you ask me. The first time I listened to Ground & Water I was impressed. Maybe I wasn’t paying enough attention though, because I thought it was good, but not great. The more that I listen to it, I’m becoming more and more convinced that I was wrong. It is great.
If you listen to the Hip Hop In My Headphones Podcast, and you definitely should, then you would’ve heard me talking about this album. I played some of the songs on Episode 9, so go check that out!
Below The Heavens is one of my favorite hip hop albums of all time. Because of that fact, I probably unfairly judge all of Blu’s work against it. Ground & Water definitely isn’t Below The Heavens, but I think it’s got a similar feel. What I mean is, they’re both true hip hop albums. This isn’t pop, it’s dope beats and rhymes.
My Favorite Songs on Ground & Water
First of all, you don’t skip any songs on this album. I just listened to it on loop 3 or 4 times, and it gets better and better. I do have a few songs that stuck out to me a bit more. My personal favorite songs are: “Feet On The Ground”, “Share The Love”, “Ground & Water”, and “Rhymes & Gemstones”.
Yes, I realize that’s exactly half the album.
Blu’s rhymes are impeccable as ever. This is my first experience listening to Damu The Fudgemunk (to my knowledge). I’m definitely impressed, and I will for sure be looking into more of his music.
